Limestone Coast Food Group Inc. Membership Criteria

Sponsorship packages are also available for any business or individual who wishes to have a higher level of participation with Limestone Coast Food Group Inc.

Criteria

Any food producer, business or individual wishing to become a member of the Limestone Coast Food Group Inc. must comply with the following:

  • Have their business (or home base) located within the designated geographical region (or have applied and been accepted by the committee).
  • Agree to the Associations Code of Ethics.
  • Food Producers and wineries must ensure that the products they are making are a true product of the area therefore reinforcing the regionality of the food and wine marketed.

Any restaurant, cafe, caterer, or food purveyor etc. wishing to become a member of the Limestone Coast Food Group must comply with the following:

  • Have their business (or home base) located within the designated geographical region (or have applied and been accepted by the committee).
  • Agree to the associations Code of Ethics.
  • Be committed to serving at least one dish where the main or naming ingredient is a regional product, at all times. The produce must be sourced from Limestone Coast producers or be home grown in the region by the restaurant operator.
  • Be committed to actively using and promoting locally produced ingredients.
  • Caterers must be able to offer a range of fresh regional produce for all menu options at he customers request.

To ensure the Limestone Coast name is not misused in the food industry, products made must meet one of the following specifications:

  • If the main ingredient and or the naming ingredient is commercially produced within the designated geographical region, the product must contain at least 80% local product. (ie. olive oil, grains, meats etc.)

  • If the main and or naming ingredient is not commercially produced within the geographical region, the combined ingredients used must be significantly changed by the processor within the geographical region (ie. preserves, coffee etc.)
